The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) has launched the 2025 edition of “December in GH”, its flagship tourism campaign designed to reinforce Ghana’s standing as Africa’s premier holiday destination.

The colourful ceremony, held on Monday, October 13, 2025, at the Banquet Hall of the Jubilee House in Accra, brought together key figures from the tourism, creative arts, and hospitality industries. The event was graced by Mr. Julius Debrah, Chief of Staff at the Office of the President, and other distinguished guests.

In her remarks, GTA Chief Executive Officer Maame Efua Houadjeto said this year’s campaign will build on the remarkable success of past editions by fostering stronger partnerships across the creative, hospitality, and events sectors to deliver world-class visitor experiences.

“The December in GH initiative continues to redefine Ghana’s global tourism image. The 2025 edition will further elevate our creative economy by combining culture, innovation, and entertainment,” she said.

Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts Dzifa Gomashie reaffirmed government’s commitment to harnessing the creative industry as a driver of inclusive growth.
“December in GH is not just a celebration — it’s a statement of who we are as a people. It showcases Ghana’s vibrant energy, creativity, and cultural diversity while positioning the country as Africa’s leading destination for experiential tourism,” she said.

Delivering the keynote address, Mr. Julius Debrah commended the Ministry and GTA for leveraging tourism as a tool for economic transformation and national branding. He noted that the initiative had created opportunities for small and medium enterprises and strengthened Ghana’s reputation as a global tourism hub.

Mr. Rex Omar, Head of the Black Star Experience Secretariat, underscored the creative sector’s role in shaping the success of December in GH.
“Our mission is to craft experiences that go beyond entertainment — to celebrate identity, connection, and creativity. This year’s calendar mirrors the bold spirit of Ghana’s creative industry,” he stated.

The 2025 edition will feature an extensive lineup of concerts, cultural festivals, culinary fairs, and diaspora reunions under the Black Star Experience platform. The official December in GH 2025 Calendar was unveiled at the event, outlining activities across the country during the festive season.

Since its inception in 2019, December in GH has become a cornerstone of Ghana’s tourism strategy — attracting thousands of visitors annually and amplifying Ghana’s image as a welcoming, creative, and culturally rich destination. Through partnerships with event organisers, diaspora networks, and local creatives, the GTA continues to champion a dynamic, inclusive tourism agenda that supports jobs and national development.
