Ghanaian hit-maker King Promise has challenged anyone to name a local artiste who has worked harder than him to reach the top of the music industry.
Fresh from winning Artiste of the Year at the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) in May, King Promise said his accolades reflect years of relentless effort and dedication. Speaking to Graphic Showbiz on Tuesday, November 25, he dismissed claims that he had “gone quiet” since receiving the award.
“There is an agenda by some detractors to downplay my efforts, claiming I’ve been silent since winning Artiste of the Year. Really? They should first find out what I’ve been doing,” he said.
King Promise highlighted a series of achievements in 2025 that reinforce his position as one of Ghana’s hardest-working artistes. These include his True To Self USA Tour, performing to sold-out venues in New York, Boston, and Los Angeles, and the September release of “See What We’ve Done” with Nigeria’s Mr Eazi, which has garnered millions of streams on YouTube, Spotify, and Apple Music.
He also expanded his global footprint with performances in Thailand, and ventured into fashion, attending Paris Fashion Week to network with international creatives. A devoted Chelsea FC supporter, King Promise collaborated with the club, filming content at Stamford Bridge inspired by legends like Michael Essien.
“I’ve been in this game long enough to know how people dismiss hard work if you’re not their favourite. This time, I want the discussion to be backed by facts,” he said.
King Promise’s TGMA victories included Artiste of the Year, Best AfroPop Song, Best AfroPop/Afrobeats Song, and Album/EP of the Year, surpassing top contenders King Paluta and Stonebwoy.
The singer, who emphasizes fitness and wellness, also revealed that his new track, “Bad Habits” featuring Davido, is already making waves. He urged critics to acknowledge his efforts, asserting that his accomplishments this year prove he remains at the pinnacle of Ghanaian music.
“My new song, Bad Habits featuring Davido, is already making waves. I have worked hard to get here, so people should respect my sweat and name,” King Promise said.
