Kwasi Aboagye bids farewell to radio after two decades of broadcasting

Renowned Ghanaian media personality Kwasi Aboagye has announced his retirement from radio after more than 20 years in the industry.

He shared the news on his Facebook page, revealing that his final show will air on December 13, 2025. In his post, he expressed gratitude to Despite Media and his loyal supporters, explaining that he plans to focus on his career in law. Kwasi Aboagye is best known for hosting Entertainment Review and the political morning show on Neat FM.

In his announcement, he wrote:
“My work as a radio presenter has come to an end. I am officially retiring from radio on December 3, 2025. I am grateful to the entire management of Despite Media and to everyone who has supported me throughout this journey. I will, at the appropriate time, extend a big thank you to some individuals who were particularly helpful.”

Kwasi Aboagye began his radio career in 1996 at Radio Univers before joining Peace FM in 1999, shortly after the station launched under Despite Media.

He quickly became a prominent figure in entertainment journalism, hosting his popular Entertainment Review programme and the political morning show on Neat FM.

In an interview with the Graphic Showbiz, he recalled being the first radio presenter to go on air, famously saying, “This is test transmission on Peace FM.”

Beyond broadcasting, Kwasi Aboagye has had a multifaceted career, including roles as an artiste manager—most notably for legendary highlife musician Amakye Dede—and as board chairman of the Ghana Music Awards USA.

His retirement announcement has already sparked widespread reactions, with many praising his invaluable contributions to the Ghanaian media landscape.
