Ghanaian dancehall artist Shatta Wale, born Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jr., has surprised many by describing the Executive Director of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), Raymond Archer, as his “best friend.”
According to Shatta Wale, what began as a legal ordeal has turned into a lesson in integrity, transparency, and the proper acquisition of luxury assets — something he now views as a divine intervention.
Earlier in 2025, EOCO seized a yellow Lamborghini Urus linked to Shatta Wale as part of an investigation into alleged U.S.-related fraud. He was detained briefly and later granted bail — initially set at GH¢10 million with two sureties, later reduced to GH¢5 million — under conditions requiring regular reporting to EOCO.
In an interview on JoyPrime TV, the musician reflected on the episode, describing it as “a God-ordained experience” meant to educate Ghanaians, particularly the youth, about responsible ownership and legitimate purchasing practices.
“Raymond Archer is now my best friend because I feel God sent him for us to educate the people of Ghana. He taught us how to buy cars properly and from the right sources. That’s one major problem we’ve solved in this country,” he said.
Shatta Wale acknowledged that some still associate Archer with his arrest but insisted the experience opened his eyes to valuable lessons.
His remarks have drawn mixed public reactions — some commend his humility and growth, while others question the sincerity behind his newfound outlook.
