The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) will resume body screening for the 2025/2026 recruitment exercise in the Greater Accra Region on Thursday, November 20, 2025, following last week’s suspension after a stampede at El-Wak Stadium that claimed six lives and left 28 others injured.
To ensure a safer process, the GAF has expanded the number of sub-centres in Greater Accra to eight:
- El-Wak Stadium – 2 centres
- Nicholson Park, Burma Camp – 2 centres
- Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC), Teshie – 2 centres
- Air Force Base, Burma Camp – 1 centre
- Eastern Naval Command, Tema – 1 centre
Applicants will be processed in controlled batches of 600 persons. Each qualified applicant will receive an SMS detailing their reporting date, batch, and assigned screening centre. Those who do not receive a message by Thursday should call the helpline 0256405104, contact WhatsApp 0256405154, or check the recruitment portal for updates.
To reduce congestion, families and friends are advised not to accompany applicants, and non-applicants will not be allowed entry.
The GAF has replaced the Greater Accra recruitment team to allow a transparent investigation by the Board of Inquiry into the stampede. Commodore FA Nyarko, Colonel F Kusi-Darko, and Colonel GB Eduah now serve as Director General Human Resource, Director Manpower, and Director Information Technology, respectively. Anyone found culpable will face sanctions.
The GAF extends condolences to the bereaved families and wishes the injured a full recovery. All injured will continue to receive free medical care at 37 Military Hospital, and a special recruitment package will be provided to them and the families of the deceased after recovery.
The Armed Forces calls on the public for continued cooperation to ensure a safe and orderly recruitment process.
