SSNIT drags George Aggudey to court over unsubmitted social security records

The Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) has initiated legal action against George Aggudey, Managing Director of Gocrest Security Company Limited, for allegedly failing to submit mandatory social security contribution reports for his employees.

According to court documents filed by SSNIT, Aggudey who is also a former presidential candidate of the Convention People’s Party (CPP) did not file contribution reports covering the period from November 2024 to August 2025. The Trust further alleges that he failed to provide essential employment records, including staff appointment details, attendance registers, wage information and contribution data, despite repeated requests for compliance.

The documents, signed by Fred Antwi Boasiako, Prosecutor at SSNIT’s Adabraka branch, were posted on the noticeboard of a District Court in Accra on November 17, 2025, after several unsuccessful attempts to serve Aggudey personally.

SSNIT states that Gocrest Security Company Limited, registered under employer number 199501568, is fully covered by the Basic National Social Security Scheme as mandated by the National Pensions Act, 2008 (Act 766), as amended by Act 883. By failing to submit the monthly contribution reports and the supporting employment records, SSNIT argues that Aggudey has violated Sections 83(1)(d)(f) and 63(7) of the Act.

Following the Trust’s application for substituted service, the court, presided over by Nancy A. Adade, granted permission for the criminal summons, hearing notice and the court’s order to be posted on the court’s noticeboard. The judge also directed that the documents be served through Aggudey’s WhatsApp number, if available.

The case has been scheduled for hearing on November 22, 2025, where Aggudey is expected to respond to the charges. SSNIT maintains that compliance with social security laws is essential to protect workers’ rights and secure their future benefits.
