The Board Chairman of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), Joe Ghartey has praised the Ga Mantse, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, for his leadership style and dedication to keeping the city clean.

He stated that the recent cleanup initiatives held in Accra under his guidance as part of the Homowo celebrations were beneficial to preserving a clean environment.

Last Thursday, during his visitation at the Ga Mantse’s home, Mr. Ghartey offered the compliment.

“We cannot sit idly by without offering any support to the Ga people when they had embarked on numerous projects and exercises in the capital; we live and work on your land and we honor your authority as the chief. We are also here to forge closer ties with you and all other notable and respectable people like you,” stated the board chairman.

Later, the board chairman gave the Ga Mantse packages of bottled mineral water, several drinks, including Schnapps, and an undisclosed sum of money.

The Ga Mantse, who accepted the GRA’s leadership, also gave the organization credit for its excellent job in raising the funds required for the Ga state’s progress throughout the years.

In addition, he urged them to make sure that the tax net was widened in order to raise additional funds for the modernization of Accra and the nation at large.

He offered prayers for the Commissioner-General, who was just given the job of leading the GRA board.

As evidence that women were superior money managers, King Teiko Tsuru claimed that even though she was a woman, he thought she could keep the nation’s coffers full.

Nonetheless, the Ga Mantse pleaded with them to take into account a quota for hiring native Ga community members to work at the GRA.

In addition to thanking them for presenting the goods to the palace, he prayed for them and wished them luck in their future endeavors.

In a subsequent interview with media professionals, Julie Essiam, the Commissioner-General of GRA, stated that the visit was a component of the organization’s four strategic initiatives under stakeholder engagements, which aim to work with the leadership of tax communities.

“Today is a big day for us because it’s the first step in our partnership and collaboration with the communities,” she continued.

According to Ms. Essiam, the tour will help the GRA management better understand the difficulties that tax-paying communities face and enhance tax education, collection, and revenue mobilization for development.
