A man has been arrested by the Kumasi Police for illegally connecting power to his residence, resulting in a loss of revenue to the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG).

The suspect, identified as 32-year-old Kwame Amoah, was apprehended by a team of ECG officials and police officers during a raid on his property.

According to the ECG, Amoah had bypassed the meter and connected power directly from the main line, evading payment for several months.

The illegal connection was discovered during a routine inspection by ECG officials, who estimated the loss of revenue to be in the thousands of Ghana cedis.

Amoah has been charged with illegal connection of electricity and is expected to appear before the Kumasi Magistrate Court.

The ECG has warned that it will continue to crack down on illegal connections, urging customers to report any suspicious activities to the authorities.

The arrest has been hailed as a victory for the ECG’s efforts to combat power theft and revenue loss.
