The U.S. State Department has launched a new fast-track visa program for ticket holders of next year’s FIFA World Cup matches in the United States. Announced on Monday, November 17, 2025, the initiative aims to simplify travel for international fans amid concerns over strict immigration policies.
Named the FIFA PASS (Priority Appointment Scheduling System), the program was unveiled by President Donald Trump in a White House ceremony alongside FIFA President Gianni Infantino. It enables holders of valid match tickets to secure quicker visa interview appointments, streamlining entry procedures ahead of the tournament.
“Your ticket is not a visa; it does not guarantee admission to the U.S.,” said U.S. Secretary of State Maria Rubio. “It only guarantees an expedited appointment. We advise all ticket holders to apply as soon as possible to avoid delays.”
Fans are encouraged to begin the application process early to prevent last-minute complications. The 2026 FIFA World Cup, jointly hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada, is expected to draw millions of visitors worldwide. Most matches will be played in the U.S., prompting authorities to prepare for large-scale travel and ensure smooth immigration processing at airports and consulates.
Officials say the FIFA PASS program demonstrates the U.S. government’s commitment to supporting major international sporting events, facilitating tourism, and maintaining national security. It offers a practical solution for global football fans, allowing them to focus on the excitement of the tournament while easing logistical challenges related to visa processing.
This new initiative underscores the importance of collaboration between sporting bodies and government agencies to enhance fan experiences and promote international engagement.
