Ghanaian gospel singer Ewura Abena has revealed how unexpected life events inspired her latest album, ‘All is Well’.
According to her, she lost her job five days after releasing ‘It Is Finished’ on April 7, 2023.
Speaking with Doreen Avio on Daybreak Hitz, she indicated that her dismissal was due to her inability to fulfill a required percentage at work.
“My album ‘This Far’ was published on October 7, 2022. Even though there had been a lengthy pause from “Agye Me Nkwa,” it went smoothly. I then released “It Is Finished” on April 7, 2023, and was fired from my job on April 12. It was as if my work had been “finished,” she recalled.
“It wasn’t like I was given a heads-up, but I was told I couldn’t meet the 24 percent target, even though I had already completed 23.8%,” she continued.
She described it as a “repetition” and noted that she faces obstacles in her life every time she puts out a new song. It was simple to believe that history was repeating itself at that precise time.
“That’s what I experienced in the past. “I release a song, and it becomes successful, but sometimes I have an accident, give in to various problems’ temptations, and I sink again,” she stated.
Ewura Abena went on to describe the challenges she had finding employment following her dismissal.
It was difficult for me to be jobless from April to September. Despite the difficult circumstances, I continued to release records and go on tours, but nobody was aware of it.
She said “I went into one of the hospitals after the launch in September of last year, and they offered to give me a 5-hour part-time administrative work when I went back.”
The musician clarified that even though her work put her in a difficult situation, she wasn’t compensated.
“A week or two into it, I stumbled off the top, spun my leg, and ended myself on crutches. Even on the day of the accident, I didn’t get paid because I worked part-time. Since my first work was difficult and required a lot of time away from my children, I felt bitter in heart as a human, yet God allowed it to happen,” she said.
But, she said that God had provided her with a new, suitable work and that Grace had discovered her.
Glory to God, I had some private time with God at that point. I told Him, “I’ve seen You do this for me, and I’ll say it’s okay with me,” and He gave me words of encouragement. I understand that when we worry, we elevate the issue beyond where it belongs, but when we worship, we elevate God and His promises above the issue.
I got an email from the government offering me a position, and the day I was going back to the hospital, God provided me a job. We have a high priest who understands all of our weaknesses, according to the Bible, so it wasn’t just about the money. God knew that because of my hormone imbalance, I wasn’t strong enough for the first job I did,” she remarked.
“When God commissions, He makes provision for it,” was her final statement.
