Chancellor of the Kumasi Technical University (KsTU), Dr. Kwame Addo-Kufuor has praised the school’s current and former students for their dedication, academic achievements, and adherence to the school’s norms and regulations.
The KsTU chancellor also congratulated the students for their good behavior on campus over the last three years, since he took over the school.
It is necessary to commend you (students) for your dedication, academic success, and compliance with this institution’s policies.
He said, “I haven’t heard of any aluta, aluta (agitations) since I came here,” characterizing the pupils as extremely serious and polite.
At the beginning of KsTU’s platinum jubilee festivities, Dr. Addo-Kufuor, who was previously the Defense Minister and Member of Parliament for the Manhyia Constituency in the administration of former John Agyekum Kufuor, offered the commendations.
Speaking on the topic, “Celebrating 70 Years of Academic Excellence: Steering the Wheels of Technical and Vocational Education,” Dr. Addo-Kufuor said it is a worthy one that clearly captures the outstanding accomplishments of KsTU.
The subject perfectly sums up our institution’s history. In 1954, KsTU was known as Kumasi Technical Institute, and the journey started then.
Since its humble beginnings as a school offering artisan training, Kumasi Technical University has developed into a leading institution of technical and vocational education.
“We should not only reflect on the past 70 years, but also push the boundaries and adopt innovative approaches to education, research, and community service,” he stated.
He expressed gratitude to Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, for his unwavering commitment to the Kumasi Technical University curriculum.
The Asakyirihene, Professor Mensah Bonsu, stated on behalf of the Asantehene that KsTU represents the Asanteman spirit and that education has always been the cornerstone of Asanteman progress.
He claimed that KsTU had produced generations of exceptional and conscientious citizens who had made significant contributions to Ghana’s progress.
“Without the dedication and sacrifices of those who came before us, the 70-year journey would not have been possible,” the traditional ruler continued, speaking on behalf of the Asantehene as the special guest of honor. I honor the forward-thinking Asanteman chiefs and people who supported the founding of this magnificent school and understood the value of technical education.”
He said that KsTU’s influence goes well beyond national borders, as the graduates of the school have had a good influence on uncountable lives.
