The Electoral Commission (EC) is slated to hold a by-election for the Ejisu constituency Today, Tuesday, April 30, 2024. This follows the vacancy left by the passing of the late Member of Parliament (MP) and Deputy Finance Minister, Dr. John Ampontuah Kumah, on March 7, 2024.

Kwabena Boateng was chosen by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) on April 13, 2024, from a pool of nine contenders to contest the seat and uphold the party’s stance.

However, the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has decided against participating in the by-election.

In preparation for the by-election, the EC has affirmed its readiness. Dr. Serebour Quaicoe, the Director of Electoral Services, assured that all essential materials are prepared and will be distributed early in the morning.

He stressed that officials have undergone comprehensive training to ensure a seamless process.

The voting hours will adhere to the standard schedule, running from 7 am to 5 pm, similar to general elections.

The results will be announced at the Coalition Centre, located at the Catholic Church in Ejisu. Dr. Quaicoe reiterated the commission’s commitment to a fair and transparent electoral process.
