The late Dr. John Ampontuah Kumah, a former Deputy Finance Minister and Member of Parliament for the Ejisu Constituency, has been laid to rest in Kumasi after his untimely passing at the age of 45.
A high-powered government delegation, led by Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, attended the final funeral rites to pay their respects to the late party stalwart.
In a heartfelt tribute, Vice President Bawumia remembered Dr. Kumah’s unflinching support during his campaign for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer position. He expressed his gratitude, saying, “Dr. Kumah supported me strongly, campaigning with me across the country. He desired to see me win the December elections, and I pray that God grants his desires for me, the party, and the country.”
The funeral ceremony held in Kumasi was attended by regional officers of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the Founder of the Movement for Change, Alan Kyerematen, who joined the family and friends of the deceased to mourn.
Dr. Kumah’s impressive educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts in Economics with Philosophy from the University of Ghana, an MBA in Finance from GIMPA, a Degree in Law (LLB) from the University of Ghana, a Professional Law Degree (BL) from the Ghana School of Law, and a Doctorate in Business Innovation from the Swiss Business School in Switzerland.
His career spanned law, business, and politics, with notable roles including solicitor and legal practitioner, founding member and Managing Partner of Aduaprokye Chambers, founder of Majak Associates Ltd, CEO of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP), and Deputy Minister of Finance. He also served as Vice Chairperson of the Constitutional, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Committee.
Dr. Kumah’s legacy will be remembered for his multifaceted and impactful career, which touched many lives. His contributions to finance, law, and politics will be deeply missed, but his memory will continue to inspire and motivate others.
