The Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GNCCI) strongly condemns the violent raid on Electrochem Ghana Limited’s Ada facility. On January 9, 2025, armed individuals attacked the facility, causing significant damage, theft of products, and injuries to staff.

This unacceptable act of violence threatens the safety of employees and the stability of Ghana’s business environment. The GNCCI categorically rejects violence in any form and reaffirms that the safety of businesses and workers is non-negotiable.

The GNCCI urges the government and law enforcement agencies to take immediate and decisive action to apprehend those responsible for this attack and bring them to justice. The Chamber calls for enhanced security measures to protect businesses across the country, ensuring that Ghana’s private sector can continue to thrive in a safe and secure environment.

In line with our mandate (LI 611 of 1968; Act 232) to promote and protect the Ghanaian private sector, the GNCCI reiterates the importance of maintaining a climate of peace, stability, and trust for both local and foreign investors. This commitment aligns with the vision expressed by the President of the Republic of Ghana, H.E. John Dramani Mahama, in his inaugural address on December 7, 2025.

The GNCCI also emphasizes the need for dialogue and constructive engagement between all stakeholders to resolve issues in a peaceful and lawful manner. Attacks of this nature undermine the progress made by businesses in Ghana and have far-reaching implications for the country’s economic growth and reputation.

The implications of such attacks extend beyond the immediate victims. They undermine investor confidence, disrupt economic activities, and deter future investments. Ghana’s reputation as a secure and business-friendly destination must not be compromised.

As the representative of the private sector, the GNCCI remains committed to advocating for the safety and well-being of businesses. We urge all stakeholders, including the government and security agencies, to collaborate in fostering a safe and secure environment where businesses can thrive without fear.

Long live the GNCCI, long live Ghana.

Thank you.

Signed

Mr. Stephane Miezan
