The EMIs (Electronic Money Issuers) Chamber of Ghana, the representative body for all Dedicated Electronic Money Issuers (DEMIs) in the country
(AT Money, G-Money, Mobile Money Limited, Telecel Cash and Zeepay), would like to notify the general public, that all Electronic Transfer Levy (E-Levy) charges applied to transactions from Wednesday, April 2, 2025, will be refunded by Monday, April 7, 2025.
This development follows the Ghana Revenue Authority’s (GRA) directive issued on April 2, 2025, instructing all charging entities to cease applying the E-Levy in accordance with the government’s decision to abolish the levy as per the Electronic Transfer Level (Repeal) Act, 2025 Act 1128.
The EMIs Chamber of Ghana would like to use this opportunity to reassure the public that all member institutions have complied with the directive to halt the application of the E-Levy and are actively processing refunds for charges applied immediately. The refund
process will be completed by Monday, April 7, 2025.
Preventing Future Charges
The Chamber would like to assure the public that its members have taken comprehensive steps to prevent any accidental application of the abolished levy moving forward.
However, in the unlikely event of a mistaken charge, they will be promptly refunded by the respective charging entities, ensuring your security and peace of mind.
