Ghanaian musician Stonebwoy has spoken out about his lack of attendance at the SallahFest on April 11, 2024, which was hosted in Abeka. Fans of the event and other music lovers expressed concern over Stonebwoy’s absence from the performance.
Stonebwoy revealed the reason behind his decision to skip the event organized by Baba Sadiq Abdulai Abu, the founder of 3Music Networks and the National Democratic Congress’s parliamentary candidate for the Okaikoi Central seat, on Hitz FM’s morning show presented by Andy Dosty.
Stonebwoy claims that he was led to believe that the performance would be a charity event that wouldn’t require publicity or payment to the artists.
“We were not intended to be advertised, so when he proceeded to put the posters, we disengaged. It was not our intention to publicize this event internally.
There was no payment made. It was an unpaid event. Even if it was, we would still follow our standard procedure and say something like, “These are charity shows that I really want to do.” I’m dealing with instances where we have various approaches. Since these are charity events, which are essentially free events, it was not the intention to publicize them. Why, therefore, did I perform Nima? No one noticed any appropriate advertising. Therefore, they were communicating. Baba Sadiq had already posted a flier before the time they would even be done and I could hear it. He even uploaded the incorrect flyer. We have screenshots, so we know for sure that I don’t know what his plans were,” he hinted.
He added that the SallahFest event organizers were informed of everything by his manager, Chief Abiola, until a few days later, when they noticed an advertisement for a different performer. “After we lost contact, he proceeds to promote Shatta Wale a few days later.” That’s the event he had. This is typical. That’s all that was present,” he declared.
Organiser Baba Sadiq confirmed he reached Stonebwoy and his team after unsuccessful attempts on the event, speaking to him personally and his manager, Chief.
Stonebwoy manager, Ricky, revealed that the ‘Baafira’ hitmaker was unhappy with Shatta Wale’s inclusion in the concert lineup. He cited a conversation with Ricky about the issue and the lack of communication after the event. The manager believes that the ‘Baafira’ hitmaker was not comfortable with Wale’s inclusion, and that they would have loved to attend the event if they were not uncomfortable with it.
Baba Sadiq held SalahFest 11th edition in Accra, aiming to foster social cohesion and climax Ramadan festivities. The event featured artists like Shatta Wale, Wendy Shay, DopeNation, Larruso, Olivetheboy, and King Promise, offering cultural benefits.
