The Guinness World Record (GWR) for the most heads of hair locked in eight hours has been broken by renowned hairstylist Chelsea-Abigail Owusu Ansah of Ghana.

With 27 locks completed in seven hours, 51 minutes, and six seconds, the skilled dreadlock artist officially earned the esteemed distinction, which is recognized on the GWR website.

On March 6, 2024, Chelsea-Abigail, CEO of Yoga Locks, succeeded in accomplishing the goal through a lock-a-thon.

Her incredible feat, which showcases her talent and perseverance, has elevated Ghana’s beauty business.

She revealed her delight and pride in a Facebook post that read, “I am thrilled to report that I have officially broken the record for the most heads of hair locked in eight hours. I appreciate you and want to encourage others to follow their passions and aim for excellence.”

At a ceremony held on Saturday, September 7, 2024, at the Blue Kiosk in Ashongman Estate, Accra, the hairdresser formally revealed her accomplishment.

Chelsea-Abigail, who has worked as a professional in the hair-locking industry for more than six years, stated that she attempted the record in an effort to erase negative ideas about dreadlocks and encourage acceptance of the hairstyle.

“I want people to know that having dreadlocks doesn’t make you a bad person, I wish to get rid of that way of thinking. The purest mentalities exist in our planet among those who wear dreadlocks”, she stated.

Chelsea-Abigail claims that her name was changed on the GWR website two months ago, but she held off on organizing an event until she received official confirmation so that she could make the announcement in public.

It is anticipated that many in the beauty business and beyond will be motivated to pursue their passions and aim for perfection by her incredible accomplishment.
