In an attempt to encourage public health, the National Ambulance Service and the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) are offering free health screenings to both the general public and its employees.

The National Ambulance Service is celebrating its 20th anniversary, and the health exam is a component of the festivities.

The National Ambulance Service’s Director of Operations, Dr. Foster Ansong Bridjan stated in an interview that the health screening program is a corporate responsibility aimed to advance health care in the nation.

“Since we are 20 years old, it is our corporate duty to arrange this health screening event for GBC employees and the public, encouraging them to understand their current health status and the necessary actions to take,” he said.

The health screening exercise is one of the most important free presents we can give out to enable people know their status, according to Akushika Acquaye, Acting Director of Television at the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC).

“A lot of free things are useful, particularly when they relate to your health because a healthy body and mind work better together,” she continued.

After going through the screening process, Mrs. Stephanie Barka, the Deputy Director of Public Affairs at Ghana Broadcasting Corporation, added that the National Ambulance Service is a valuable resource in the Ghana Health System and that other stakeholders, including the government, should take them into consideration.

Essential screenings such as blood pressure checks, blood sugar checks, eye exams, Hepatitis B tests, and others were offered by the outreach program.
