The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has released their manifesto for the 2024 general elections, offering a comprehensive strategy to rebuild Ghana’s economy, reduce economic problems, and promote good governance.

Presenting at the Winneba launch, former President John Dramani Mahama, the chosen candidate for the NDC, denounced the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) for its “terrible performance,” citing elevated rates of unemployment, inflation, and currency depreciation.

A National Economic Dialogue, tax simplification, and emergency steps to stabilize the Ghana cedi are just a few of the things Mr. Mahama predicted would resurrect Ghana’s economy.

He further promised to look into the NPP’s “hidden Gold-for-Oil deal” and examine the Bank of Ghana’s Gold Purchase Program.

With programs like the “24-Hour Economy” formula, which attempts to increase output, productivity, and employment possibilities, the NDC’s manifesto places a strong emphasis on job development.

Additionally, the party pledges to provide numerous incentives and initiatives to promote women entrepreneurs, small enterprises, and artisans.

The NDC intends to prioritize healthcare, uncap the National Health Insurance Levy, and create a Ghana Medical Care Trust Fund to assist those with chronic illnesses.

The party also pledges to build new, contemporary hospitals in impoverished areas, restore the automatic employment of healthcare professionals, and increase the size of the health infrastructure.

The NDC’s dedication to education is also demonstrated in the manifesto, which outlines measures to enhance Free SHS, allocate special money, and decentralize food procurement.

The party says it will put in place a “No-Academic-Fees” policy, help continuing students financially, and build up tertiary education infrastructure.
