The global pharmaceutical company, Pfizer has announced plans to invest $5 million in Ghana’s health sector over the next three years.

Albert Bourla, CEO of Pfizer, made the news during a meeting with President Akufo-Addo at the Jubilee House on Tuesday evening.

“I was going to make this announcement to you, but I believe now is the moment. The Pfizer Foundation, Pfizer’s philanthropic arm, has decided to donate a significant sum of money to Ghana,” he stated.

The reason is that, although we attempt to donate our money to organizations that we think can utilize it wisely, we actually care deeply about the dollars that we do. We are quite at ease making our donation in Ghana. We will provide Ghana $5 million over the course of three years as part of a program,” he declared.

Considering that breast cancer is one of the main causes of death rates in Ghana, the funds have been set aside for breast cancer efforts.

“I have complete faith that this sum of money will be used by a national nonprofit organization that will improve the lives of breast cancer patients,” the Pfizer CEO continued.

Regarding their engagement in the nation’s health sector, President Akufo-Addo thanked the CEO of Pfizer and his associates.

To have a top-tier company like Pfizer working with regional health officials to develop long-term answers to Ghana’s health problems, in his opinion, was a huge source of encouragement.
