Greater Accra Regional Minister, Henry Quartey, has defended the inclusion of New Patriotic Party (NPP) and National Democratic Congress (NDC) protocol lists in the security services recruitment process.

According to Quartey, the individuals on the lists were recruited based on their qualifications and expertise, and not solely due to their political affiliations.

He explained that the protocol lists were used to fill specific positions requiring specialized skills, and that the recruits underwent rigorous background checks and training.

Quartey’s comments come in response to criticism from opposition parties and civil society organizations, who have accused the government of politicizing the security services.

The Minister assured that the recruitment process was transparent and merit-based, and that the government prioritizes national security over political considerations.

The controversy surrounding the security services recruitment continues, with many calling for further clarification and accountability from the government.
