Dulcie Boateng, known as the ‘Queen of Snapchat’ for her social media presence, found herself at the center of controversy after a promotional event she organized led to a police crackdown. The event, titled the Porials Pitch near Accra Mall, drew large crowds and caused significant traffic along the N1 Highway.
Authorities, including the Pharmacy Council of Ghana and the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA), intervened upon finding out that many products showcased at the fair were not properly registered with relevant state agencies. This resulted in the arrest of around a dozen organizers, including Dulcie Boateng.
Surprisingly, when police returned to arrest additional suspects, Dulcie had vanished from the scene. Items seized during the operation included boric acid suppositories, bootyzone butt enlargement products, weight gain syrups, and various unapproved soaps and potions.
The detained individuals were taken to Accra Central Police Station, where they provided statements before being released pending further investigation. They are likely to face charges related to selling unregistered products and advertising items without FDA approval, which could lead to violations of health regulations.
Despite the legal issues stemming from the event, footage from the gathering circulated widely on social media, earning Dulcie praise for drawing significant attendance. However, the aftermath of the event has highlighted the importance of adhering to regulatory standards when promoting products.
